If the caption was “No, Worf, the Enterprise does not need bitchin’ new rims” it would be species-ist.
Of course, since all the awesome Klingons were played by black men anyway, I suppose racist might be appropriate too.

You are correct, it would be species-ist, and I apologize. But this, from the show that showed the first cross-species kiss and the first cross-racial kiss on television, is unlikely to be so. And the bitchin’ rims go at the end of the warp nacelles. That’s where they go on my cool spaceship in my room in my mom’s basement.
Are you referring to those whirly things on the front end of the nacelles in TOS, or to a different structure entirely mounted on the back end of the nacelles?

Geordi was chief engineer, and he was always trying to find ways of improving the Enterprise. I just took it to an extreme. Is it funnier because Geordi is played by a black actor? Yes, I admit. There is no denying, though, that tricking out out your vehicle (in this case, the Enterprise) is something commonly associated with African-American culture.
Lavar Burton tells a story about how he was pulled over in LA for driving a fancy new sports car, only because he was black. The officer told him flat out that he didn’t believe a black man could afford the car, but asked for an autograph when he found out who he was.
