You should study jiu jitsu or aikdo then. Jiu jitsu is joint locks and deflecting your opponents attacks to strike at their weak points while they are off balance. Aikdo is sort of similar but its the martial arts that the samurai used in hand to hand combat when they didnt use their swords. It involves a lot of redirecting and controlling of the opponent through putting them in pain with a minimum amount of force on your part. Also Crane style Kung fu would be good too. It can be summed up with the story of the crane vs the rhino.

One day a crane was standing as cranes do, on one leg in a pond minding his own business. A rhino saw him from atop a small hill and began to charge at the crane. The crane did not move and the rhino got closer. Still the crane did not move. The rhino got to the edge of the water and the crane did not move. As the rhino was about to hit the crane, the crane stepped onto his other leg and lifted his wing and struck the rhino in the eye causing the rhino to run blindly into the deeper water and drown.

Now i dont know if rhino’s can swim or not in real life but the story illustrates the tactic that the crane uses. Minimum force and maximum effect. As an attacker steps in to hit with a right hook (ye olde hay maker) you step to your left and punch him in the throat with a right of your own and the fight is over. doesnt take a lot of force to put someone down if you hit them in the right spots. eyes, throat/neck, temple, ear (trust me), sternum, pressure points, groin, knees, etc. are all points of vulnerability and any time someone throws an attack at you they are vulnerable somewhere that you can exploit… just takes practice and observance.

Also pay attention to the way the body bends. If you knee a guy in the groin what way is he going to move? right down grabbing his crotch and exposing his face… elbow him in one of the vulnerable points listed above that you can see. Fight over.

Something I heard from a marine force recon instructor a while ago, if you take more than 2 hits to finish a fight your chances of being injured go up 52%. It sounds accurate but that could also depend on the situation in my opinion. I mean if you knee a guy in the groin and then break his jaw or eye socket with an elbow and hes still standing… hes not in any mood to fight.
