This was taken at DragonCon in Atlanta, GA. Not sure if it was this year’s or last year’s. It looks like it was taken near the food court at the mall connected to one of the hotels.
Believe it or not, this was by far not the silliest costume there.
Actually, this particular picture has been kicking around the internet for a while and was taken either at Celebration II or Celebration III in Indianapolis. I was at Celebration III, I don’t recall seeing this costume, but I recognize the Marriott in the background across the street.
yeah, i’d remember if i saw that at celebration 3 so i’d assume it was celebration 2
The pic was from CIII, but the depicted costume wasn’t. This particular one was Photoshopped – if you look closely enough, you can see the artifacts on the chestbox. The actual costume in this pic was the all-white “redeemed” Vader from the end of Dark Horse Comics’ ‘Star Wars: Return Of The Jedi’ Infinities miniseries, where Vader survived his injuries and went to work for the Alliance after throwing the Emperor down the bottomless shaft in the Death Star II. That costume (the white Vader) was indeed walking around at CIII.
The scary part is, there really *IS* a Darth Kitty now – someone saw this pic and MADE A REAL VERSION. I’ve seen pics from various events last year, and reports from others who’ve seen it with their own eyes. >shudder<
As far as silly costumes – well, as far as I know, I’m still the only person out there with the Robot Chicken Darth Vader costume from the opening credits of Cartoon Network’s Star Wars Robot Chicken special.
Who cares! It’s just sad…really sad…
Yeah, it was for sure Indianapolis. I see that building outside the window all the time. It’s in the Indianapolis Convention Center, Star Wars Celebration II I think.

There’s no doubt about this guy’s sexual orientation. He’s gayer than a Christmas window display at Barney’s NY.
I love all the weird variants of Star Wars costumes that you find at conventions. Quickly looking at my photos from SW Celebration IV, there was the Elvis stormtrooper, a Spider-Man stormtrooper, a Chef Vader with Jar-Jar’s head served on a platter, a Burger King stormtrooper (with the creepy king mask, wig and cape), a squadron of Japanese Samurai Stormtroopers, a pastel pink female Stormtrooper, a Tourist Stormtrooper with a Hawaiian shirt, sandals and a camera, and lots of others that I didn’t get to take photos of. So a Hello Kitty Darth Vader doesn’t stand out nearly as much as you’d think he would.
So post ‘em already! I’d love to see them! Or is there a site where they are displayed?
