    hmm…

    “dying honorably?”

    just say’n

    • someone says:

well he died of a correlation between two prescripted medicines. it was the doctors fault … not mr. ledgers.

btw … jack was a mean and evil joker … letting him look like a sissy is a great achievement.

      • 3floofiekittehs says:

        *Troll alert*
Sorry someone, when a person goes to multiple doctors to get multiple prescriptions which all have similar adverse affects- the doctor can not be to blame. A doctor can’t be responsible for continuity of care when the patient is seeking medicines from multiple practitioners and not disclosing this information.
I don’t know exactly what happened in Ledgers case (and I doubt you do either), but healthcare workers see this on a daily basis. You cannot mix medicines and then blame a doctor if you don’t tell the doctor what you are taking in the first place. People need to be responsible about their healthcare.

        • YumYum says:

I also don;t knwo exectly what happened in Ledger’s case.

          However…

I’ve also seen it where the patient does everything right, goes to no one but who her PCP reccommends, tells everything about her medications and allergies (and, in fact, has a comprehensive and up-to-date list of everything printed out with her every time she visits a doctor) and the doctors STILL mess her up. Happened to my fiancee. The combo of meds her old doctor had her on messed up her mind to much she eventually didn’t know what she was taking when, and accidentally OD’d.

          She’s better now.

          • 3floofiekittehs says:

Sorry about your friend. Yes, healthcare workers make errors too (my own grandmother suffered from a mistake made by a physician). But I still get defensive when everyone automatically blames the doctor, or nurse, or hospital. Most people are ignorant to the actual facts, but fast to point the finger.

            • Charro says:

I agree with you floofie. I think it is also up to the patient to be educated about the medications they are taking and not just blindly swallow pills because they were prescribed. The more you know about what you are putting in your body, the better off you are. My mom is constantly checking her meds in the PDR and making sure there’s no negative interactions, and I have picked up that trait.
              The more you know…

              • KyrusRose says:

No, its not always the docs case, but I put less faith in doctors then in patients. My daughter was taking prescription allergy pills her doc gave her… adult pills, it turned out.. she was 5. She was being over medicated heavily and slept through class, fell asleep when she got home, couldn’t think clearly. It would have killed her. I took her off the meds myself and took her to another doctor, who suggested I file a suit. Can’t, not enough money, but it proves that even the simplest things can be over looked, and doctors, while they may act like they know everything, don’t.

                • BAW says:

You might be able to find an attorney who will take it on contingency, or even pro bono. Even if you can’t, at least file a complaint with the state’s medical board–that’s free, or is in most states.

          • Robert says:

There’s strong evidence that Mary Kate Olson was dealing to him on the side. Damn shame either way.

      • taylorw says:

Well, unfortunately I’d say it was his own fault. It doesn’t seem like it was intentional, but you can’t really blame the doctors here. Of course I also don’t see the point in assigning blame since it was most likely an accident.

    • Charro says:

How does one “die honorably”? Isn’t it enough that someone is dead? Why do we have to blame them for it or laugh at it? No matter who it is that has passed or how they died, someone somewhere who loved them deeply is hurting and you are blaming their loved one for dying. Get off your high horses people. Let the dead rest in peace and give your compassion to those left behind.

  3. Pete says:

    Ouch. So true.

  4. Burphel says:

Disturbing, but true. Heath managed to make me afraid of clowns again.

    • Kit says:

I’m STILL afraid of clowns… and now I’m addings ’sweaty clowns in bad makeup’ to the list!

    • KerrYrreK says:

Christ, Tim Curry’s Pennywise didn’t unnerve me as much as Ledger’s joker…though he came pretty close in Rocky Horror Picture Show…

  5. ex_sailor says:

    Amen to that.

  6. Green is Good says:

    Epic truth!

  7. Tempestates says:

I never had any intention to insult him but that caption was great.

  8. Jennifer says:

This isn’t his last movie yo.

  9. Anne Nona Myss says:

    lol!

  10. TehShay says:

Shouldn’t the Best Week Ever link read “Dark Knight”?

  11. Emily says:

    Oh Heath Ledger.
    How I love you.

  12. jared says:

Great caption! Heath was a Joker I could see paralyzing Barbara Gordon and murdering Jason Todd (aka the second Robin).

  13. An says:

Sigh…..another tribute to an actor that OD’d….I got over it as soon as I heard it was a suicide.

    • Charro says:

      Coroner/Medical Examiner pronounced it accidental.
Dead is still dead, no matter how you get there. It’s still a loss to everyone who knew and loved him, and a loss to the people who enjoyed seeing him do what he obviously loved so much.
I don’t understand why people get so hung up on how people died.. Everyone has their problems. People who aren’t famous accidently OD or commit suicide or are involved in horrific accidents all the time and no one just shrugs it off like they seem to do with famous people. “Oh look another rich white kid hung himself with his belt” (happened at my high school) “Oh look another poor white kid OD’d on heroin” (happened to a friend of mine) “Oh another mexican kid got accidently shot in the head” (happened at my junior high). You would never hear people say crap like that. You’d hear about the loss and the tragedy and how sad it must be for the family. But if it’s someone famous “Oh another celebrity who destroyed themselves”. Why does it matter? Everyone deserves some sort of tribute to their life.. In death you are supposed to remember people for the good deeds they did in life.

  14. Mentor397 says:

Yeah, Leo thought he was better than Jack too.

  15. SKW says:

Too bad he’ll never beat Mark Hammill. Oh well, he still did pretty well.

    • SliferDemon says:

Mark’s laugh is the Joker laugh I cannot get out of my head, such a great voice actor he is.

But i believe Jack brought real sense of mentally deranged feeling to the joker, just my opinion.

  16. Jim says:

    Great caption!!!

  17. Blu says:

Ah, the disappearing pencil trick… gotta love it!

  18. StreakyTSC says:

Jack showed us a dark and evil Joker,
But Heath Ledger’s take was THE Joker!!!!!!!!!!
    Thanks a million, H.L!
    Requiescat In Pace…

  19. Robert says:

    Damn skippy

  20. D'oh says:

Completly agreed. For some reason, my did still prefers the Jack Nicholson Jo
ker. But come รณn! Compared to the Ledger Joker, Nicholson was just a gay clown with a posse. Ledger, now thรกt was a true madman, a true psycho, a true villain. However, I hated the grunting by Christian Bale when he was in his Batman suit. Sounded awfull really.

  21. Fate says:

Ledger was so overrated in that movie. If he were still alive no one would bother wasting time with what was, at best, an above-mediocre performance enhanced by good cinematography and good wrting.

    Fail

  22. gazz says:

He should of came on the HOUSE stage maybe Hugh Laurie could have saved him ……Lol!

  23. gazz says:

Plus it was mary kates fault she should be shot on sight!!!!!!

  24. rabid says:

So fcking true. I mean, honestly.

  25. Blake Johnston says:

This would be true if people didn’t ruin it.

  26. Erik says:

People give credit to Ledger where it’s due to the writers and makeup artists. If Nicholson’s Joker had looked so psychotically haphazardous and was written as maliciously, there’d be no contest.

    • Masterblaze0 says:

Yeah…. Personally, I didn’t like Ledger in this role… just pretty cliche

    • :) says:

if ledger had been wearing no makeup and improvising all his lines he still would have been the same joker, just with a clean face. The actor brings character to the role, and (to some extent) no one can tell then exactly how they will bring the life to their character. Erik, you are oblivious to how hard ledger worked to make the joker so psychotic and disturbing. They give the oscar to the ACTOR for a reason.

    • Brandy says:

Christopher Nolan gave Heath free rein to create the role of the Joker. To prepare for the role Heath sat in a hotel room in London for about a month, locked himself away, formed a little diary and experimented with voices. He delved into that character and worked his hide off in his role as the Joker, so he deserves a whole lot of the credit.

  27. Snoodle says:

    Ace XD!

  28. Zazzle says:

I appear to be the only one capable of liking both Jokers.

Besides, Mark Hamill’s was definitive ;)

  29. Chamilet says:

I though Heath was chanelling Jack with some of the mouth movements he did, licking his lips and whatnot. I liked them both.

  30. Lauren says:

Are you talking about a true fan to the comic or the show? Because the comic joker is insane, creepy, psychopathic and any other psychological term I can think of that would fit, but the cartoon one is so dummed down from how he is in the comics.

But I do think Ledger did a great job…even with lines and makeup, it takes the actor to put the character to them we all can read those lines and act it out but we all won’t have the same energy or voice or presence that ledger brought to the joker.

  31. Kezra says:

99.9% of the people who reply here are idiots.

  32. Alyssa says:

Stop trying to sound all self-righteous.

  33. Alyssa says:

    THE JOKER IS MY HERO!!!!!!!
Heath Ledger was totally and completely STUNNING in this role. I saw the movie 4 times and was still amazed. Now I just fast forward through all the boring bits and just watch the Joker scenes.

  34. Anita says:

    THIS. WIN. YES. THANK YOU.

  35. Rita says:

The only movie I liked Heath Ledger in was “A Knight’s Tale”. Hiding behind sloppily applied makeup, whether for effect or not, does not an Oscar-worthy performance make. My opinion is that Hollywood, jumping on the bandwagon it so often does after a celebrity’s death, felt obligated to nominate Ledger for his role of risk media and fan outrage. He’s dead, people! What the hell is he going to do with the statuette if he wins?

  36. Luis says:

I thought he did an awesome job. The pencil trick was awesome :D

  37. Corrine says:

I think he did an amazing job with this role. In most movies I always feel like there is still a bit of the actor/actress showing through the role they are given, but in this movie I felt as though it was just the Joker, not Heath Ledger playing the Joker, even during the scene with no makeup. I believe that is great acting.

  38. sabaku says:

No way Jack is still THE joker

  39. Tama says:

One of the only ways I think Heath measures up is that his hair was considerably lighter than Jack’s and therefore the green hair dye didn’t look as awful in his hair. It actually sort of blended pretty well with his hair.

With Jack’s it just SCREAMED ‘BAD DYE JOB’ because his hair was so dark.

Jack’s Joker was plenty crazy, but in the older-man way. Come on–when a mobster/whatever gets older, he gets more of a posse than he would if he was a younger guy.

Heath’s Joker was REALLY CRAZY, the crazy you can really only be if you are younger…

  40. Snordz says:

    That is pure blasphemy !

  41. Jack Nicholson’s Joker will ALWAYS own Ledger’s.

    End of story.

  42. Keaydee says:

    Joker= my hero
    Yeah …… i know he’s a “bad guy”…..
    Why so serious?

  43. Will says:

Yes, the movie was extremely overrated but Heath Ledger is mezmerizing. He should have gave you a chill down the back of your neck

  44. MrJosiahMuskrat says:

Ledger brought forth in that movie one of the most amazing performances ever seen on film. He brought out such a dark, terrifying and psychotic killer that he made the comic-book Joker, a villain who has been number one to one of the most iconic heroes in the world, known for having the best villains in fiction-ville forover fifty years look like mother’s milk. The man got so into his character, prepared for it so intirely, it killed him. Give the man the Oscar, he sure as hell earned it WAY more than half of these other freaking “Stars”

  45. Metalcraze says:

The whole movie was awful he made the joker seem gay
kept making up stupid stories about people smiling
and two face was only on for like ten minutes

  46. :) says:

i’m sure you could. (Sarcasm) you could probably win an oscar too. (sarcasm) Also, look up ‘cliche’ in the dictionary because i don’t think you know what it means. :)

  47. :) says:

and what makes you so sure you can criticize us? how do you know that some of these comments weren’t written by oscar recipients? I think you should get off your high horse and shut up. if you think that people voicing their opinions is wrong, you deserve to die. Also, aren’t you being a little hypocritical by stating that there is “no honor in death”? That claim has no basis.

  48. Sithandra says:

…” and i thought my jokes are bad…”
i hated Batman movies till i saw this one and i’m not ashamed to say that i liked the Joker more than any other character.
H.L. was the best Joker ever. And that’s a fact.
