  1. Kari says:

Dang right, I’d watch!! When’s the release date?? lol

  2. Danielle says:

    So right….. drool…. sexiest man alive – also best actor… :D

    • Jon says:

Best actor??? I call shenanigans! Best *OVER*-actor for very tailored roles, sure. He doesn’t really ACT in anything. For all intents and purposes it’s all the same role.

Saying he’s better than people like Al Pacino, Dustin Hoffman, Jack Nicholson… Sorry, wrong.

      • Kari says:

I don’t see how you can say it’s all the same role — Captain Jack Sparrow is certainly a very far cry from Edward Scissorhands, as is his role in Secret Window, and let’s not forget that Sweeney Todd was a SINGING role. All adorableness aside, Johnny Depp is a very talented and versatile actor.

      • Sorsha says:

        Define a good actor then.

        • A Wallflower says:

Kevin Spacey, Edward Norton, and Brad Pitt are my personal favorites. My favorite role by Kevin Spacey is in Se7en, and for Edward Norton it would probably be…. American History X, and for Brad Pitt it would definitely be Fight Club. I guess I didn’t really define a good actor, I just listed some, but oh well.

      • Lucy says:

Speaking of “all the same role”–90% of Al Pacino’s roles have been “rough cop on the edge with nothing to lose” or “no-nonsense hardened criminal.” Bleh.

      • Feisty says:

        Smells like jealousy to me.

Terms like Best Actor and Good are relative anyway. I know people who love Brad Putz and Keanu Reeves but I don’t think either of them could act their way out of a paper bag.

I’ll take Depp. You can keep Pacino.

        • Terapyn says:

Well, I tend to agree that good is a relative term, however, I think after seeing him in Benny and Joon vs. his role in Secret Window well… that’s pretty darn talented if you ask me. Now, also remember that not every movie will be good and that not every role is meant for every actor. I LOVE Nic Cage, and yet, if anyone has ever seen Vampire’s Kiss… well let’s say he was lucky he got another role.

      • Dana says:

I’ll say it because no one else will: Jack Nicholson largely sucks as an actor. His roles are all Bad Guy, Grump, and Grouch, and he plays them all in pretty much the same way.

I saw the original version of The Shining one night on cable and had to change the channel after about half an hour, it was so awful. I’ve read the book and he COMPLETELY GOT THE CHARACTER WRONG.

I liked him as the Joker… one of the few times that maybe he stretched. But I understand Heath Ledger totally upstaged him. That I’ll have to see when my four-year-old’s not around.

        • Tessie says:

Jack Nicholson has certainly been in his fair share of crap pictures early in his career — catch him in “the raven” with Vincent Price — Jack in pantaloons and tights, WTF??

I haven’t seen all of his later movies, but I’ve seen Cuckoo’s Nest, The Shining, Terms of Endearment, the Witches of Eastwick, Wolf, and Batman, and while I thought his was good in all of them, he does have a very stereotyped persona — eyebrows and teeth — that he over-relies on in every movie of his that I’ve seen. I don’t think he’s a bad actor at all, but he may be one of the most *overrated* actors. He seems to know this, too, because in real life, he’s been known to subtly poke fun at his persona, which makes me think that at least he’s an OK guy and a good sport, rather than a pompous ass who takes himself seriously because he’s an AKKKTOR!!!

        • Melissa says:

I wouldn’t say Nicholson sucks…but he, and DeNiro and Pacino and a lot of other “iconic” stars (however you choose to define that) are actors who make the bulk of thier living (and fill seats) simply by being themselves. They have an “on” persona that works on film and that people will pay to see.

          • Ann Onymous says:

True, but DeNiro has played SOME other roles than cop or mafioso… And he was awesome! :) Lol… (Pacino might have played some other stuff, too, but idk… I’m much more a DeNiro fan…)

      • Asher says:

You’re forgetting about Depp in the movie “Benny & Joon” where he played someone with a mental handicap. I’d like to see any of those people do the same thing.

      • hghsgd says:

YOU ARE SO WRONG JOHNNY DEPP IS AMAZING :O:O:O Jack Sparrow and Sweeney Todd it’s defenetly not the same role at all!

    • random says:

How can we forget Tom Hanks?? He has to be one of the most versatile actors ever! I mean…the man starred opposite a VOLLEYBALL and got an academy nomination.

    • k says:

      so trueee!!!

  3. Nat says:

The sad part is it’s true, so very, very true.

  4. Tana says:

    Me – not so much.
My sister – She’ll watch *any* movie with him in it.

    • TehShay says:

Yeah, i think the last thing I saw johnny depp in was… uh..

Don Juan De Marco. I think he was in that.

      • deppaholic123 says:

Yep he was…my favorite movie of his! By the way…caption’s true and I am danged proud of it….LOL!

  5. Dani says:

    so, so true… lol.

  6. vandalfan says:

I’d pay good money to watch Johnny Depp read the phone book.

  7. MadAriad says:

    Oh yes…. Anything for Johnny!

  8. Cloudy says:

Yes, Mr. Depp. Indeed I would. Probably more than once.

  9. Rivahcat says:

    Yes. Yes, I would.

    Sigh…….

  10. sally says:

    So freaking hot!

  11. seattlefreeze says:

…i’m sorry. what did you say? i got lost in your eyes…. *sigh*

  12. danzig says:

You really think so? Watch Ed Wood and you’ll understand Johnny Depp’s association with my gag reflex

    • Jessi says:

I’ve watched Ed Wood. Many times. I’m still perplexed (not at the movie by the way, lol).

      • Nat says:

But it was sooo good. He portrayed Ed Wood perfectly.

        • Jessi says:

Yeah, I know, lol. I adored the movie. I was trying to say that I was perplexed by danzig’s reaction to it. Every single person in that movie just did an amazing job and continues to prove the point that Tim Burton + Johnny Depp = AWESOME!!!

          • danzig says:

Ed Wood was a terrible movie with stupid characters and stupid plot. I don’t care if its about real people. Its about boring people doing boring things. I would watch it if I was suffering from insomnia. It might as well have been about the life cycle of a gnat.

  13. wickedwitch says:

Yes, Johnny! Please do! I’d love to watch a movie about gnats with you in it! No, I don’t care if not a great actor! Just get in front of the camera!

  14. loltennis says:

    Nope. Don’t give a f*ck about him.

  15. loltennis says:

Also: the Everybody Loves Depp macros are getting old.

  16. Chicken says:

Oh please. Haven’t we seen enough of him on here? And all pics are the same joke? Well personally seeing him once here was enough…

  17. rei says:

    despite the cynics…

    yummy

  18. mj says:

Life cycle of a gnat, eh? Well, anything’s gotta be better than “The Ninth Gate.” $5 DVD bin at Wal-Mart… and still way overpriced.

  19. Mia says:

    So true… *drool*

  20. bugdog says:

hah! He made a movie where he mostly reads, drinks scotch and smokes for something like five freaking hours. You keep waiting for something cool to happen and it NEVER does!

It’s called The Ninth Gate, in case any of you are wondering.

And, yes, I did watch the whole thing because, yeah, he’s hot.

  21. Ardeliah says:

    Yes I would.

  22. Nana says:

Gilbert Grape? Benny & Joon? Guy is good. And besides, who cares? YUM.

  23. Stacie says:

Yes, I would. I’d even buy the DVD.

  24. gnn1 says:

HELL YES I WOULD! When’s it coming out and will there be a DVD?!

  25. dOOb says:

I’d rather watch a gnat make a movie about the life cycle of Johnny Depp.

  26. Melissa says:

I would DEFINITELY watch it. In a heart beat. I’d probably also buy the movie poster, the fan shirts, and the DVD. You can bet I’d be in line at the midnight premier, too.

I’ve loved this guy for years. My walls are covered with pictures and posters of him. :) Favorite & best actor, imo. & devastatingly gorgeous.

  27. Puss E. Eater says:

I don’t give two sh!ts about Johnny Depp, I just wanna see this gnat movie!!!

  28. lolbukkittoo says:

Hells yeah I would Johnny! Especially if you’re dressed like Jack Sparrow!!! (Shut up, it doesn’t have to make sense!)

  29. tired gal says:

    And I so would . . .

  30. Kay says:

Last year we went to a musuem to see a Imax movie for a school field trip. The movie was about creatures in the ocean (Deep Sea was the name of it),and was sure to be a snooze-fest. But when it started,Johnny was narrating, and just his voice made everything better. I actually paid attention. (The fact that Danny Elfman did the musical score helped, too, but that’s a whole other story.)

    • Jessi says:

I saw that one, too! Then again, I’m an IMAX/Museum of Natural History addict.

      • Dana says:

I *own* that DVD. ‘Course, it was my little girl’s dad just up and buying yet another DVD and bringing it over without consulting me first, I had never heard of the movie before he did that, but I own it now. :)

        • somerandomguy says:

why the hell r u up so early looking at johnny depp?!?

          • Jessi says:

The time stamps are all whacked on here. For instance, mine say that I’m posting things two hours earlier than I actually am, so Dana might not be up all that early.

Then again, who better to look at in the wee hours?

    • Alyssa says:

OMG I saw that too! I just didn’t really care about him back then. I was yound and naive.

  31. me says:

Finding Neverland was really good if you like drama. And it was well acted by all involved.

  32. Lynn says:

I swear, I am the only one who doesn’t care about him or looooove his movies.

  33. Eowyn says:

    Yes! Yes I would.
Benny and June, What’s eating Gilbert Grape, Pirates… Sweeny Todd. Come on did you even see the behind the scenes?
He has great talent and is sexxy to boot!

  34. Bri says:

    True dat!! :P

  35. meep says:

as long as that movie is directed by tim burton, then yes.

  36. s57sunny says:

You got that right baby, er Cry-Baby!

  37. ash says:

    <3
It’s so true. Millions of people would watch anything just because he’s in it. ^^

  38. Alyssa says:

    Hell yes I’d watch it.
    Probably multiple times, in fact.
The funny thing is how this would totally never happen in real life. Johnny is so modest, bless him. :)

  39. misty says:

damn straight is watch it! yummy!

  40. misty says:

dosent matter what hes doing, ill watch for sure!

  41. nidu says:

well, i did watch a whole documentary on exotic underwater life that was narrated by johnny depp and kate winslet
so yes, i would watch the life cycle of a gnat

  42. Cheshire says:

I had a life-size poster of him from his 21 Jumpstreet days… stayed on my wall through out my entire life as a teenager… I passed it on to my sister when I moved in with my boyfriend. (I didn’t think it would help his self esteem if he found me drooling over Johnny everyday when he came home from work.)

Good lord this man will never lose his place in my heart.

    • gelida_edera says:

:-) I searched the TV guide each time I went to my Grandma’s house, just in hopes that 21 Jumpstreet was on! That was lots of fun.

  43. Eligreg says:

    oh yeah baby… i would…

  44. Alex says:

Last great movie he was in was sleepy hollow.

  45. peanut says:

i would watch it!!! i’d be the crazy fan, camped out infront of harkins theater for like a month just waiting…. you shoulda seen me when Sweeney Todd came out! i was like a retard in the chuck E. cheese, as larry the cable guy would put it.

  46. beth says:

    yes i would……

  47. Morandor says:

wow. talk about a lot of ppl who don’t seem to comprehend that opinions are not fact. everybody has opinions on what they “think” is good acting. you REALLY want bad acting? 2 words: David Spade. I can see why his assistant attacked him. to save the world from him. Johnny Depp is fine. as is Jack Nicholson. don’t like them as actors? don’t watch their movies. that simple.

  48. Regin the Radiant says:

Lets seee…. Loved Don Juan DeMarco, loved Charlie and the Choclate Factory, loved Edward Scissorhands, loved the voice on Sweeny Todd ( it was too violent, so I had to listen instead of watching.) Let’s see this gnat movie. Do something on snakes, too.

  49. Kittehbomb says:

I would see the movie. And i would like it.

  50. paws4thot says:

F&LinLV was brilliant. Now Blow was a Johnny Depp movie that really isn’t worth watching twice, mostly because nothing much happens, including acting!

  51. Lloth says:

If Johnny plays in that, I’ll watch. :D He could play a gnat too in enjoyable way.

  52. Smilez says:

Yes, me and my sisters. ^_^

  53. Kim says:

ahhhh tooo true…… I’d watch it….. course I didn’t watch Sweeney Todd thou… just not into killing like that

  54. Vanessa says:

Yes Yes Yes. You can make a silent movie and not say a word; I’d watch it!.

  55. Keaydee says:

Damn true!!! Well, only if the joker was involved…

  56. llc says:

in the grand picture, depp’s life IS the life cycle of a gnat.

  57. Metalcraze says:

no i wouldn’t your an overrated douchebag

  58. blakelynne says:

omg yahz!!!! i think if there was a ben stine movie i would watch it as long as johnny depp was in it…

  59. Irene says:

You all forgot Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas…and Sleepy Hollow, and Chocolat, and The Ninth Gate, and The Libertine, and From Hell…..those are magnificent movies….he’s quite a versitile actor, even those who don’t like the way he looks (which is borderline impossible :P ) admit it

  60. peopleperson says:

    dam rite i wud!!!

  61. SeriouslyThisIsMyRealName says:

Well now who says a movie about the life cycle of a gnat wouldn’t be a great movie, anyway? I’ve seen good movies about dumber things than that.

As far as what I think makes for a really good actor, though, I don’t think I would go with Depp, Nicholson, Pacino or DeNiro. They’re all fine, but what really marks a good actor is their ability to disappear into their role. People like Cary Elwes, Gary Oldman and Mindy Sterling, who can play a major role and it doesn’t even click with most people that they’re in the movie are what I think of when I think really good actor.
