I completely agree. And although I did like the books to a horrendous degree, the obsession has since worn off. The movie sucked, and I’m hoping the new one will be better. I am/was an Edward fangirl, I admit. I squealed at least once per page in my early obsession days. I read each book once a week. But the thing is…I think I was just completely romance starved. Still never had a boyfriend! And at that time, didn’t have anyone I liked. And Edward…what girl doesn’t appreciate the chivalrous, hot man who is willing to do anything for the girl? All girls love that. A guy who hugs them and kisses them, and sleeps (I say this in a completely chaste way) with them…it’s lovely and romantic. But the sad thing is, we’ll never find that man. If he’s out there, he’s either a zombie from medieval time or he’s taken. I would TOTALLY become a mistress for that man. But anyway, I digress. In the movie…he talked haltingly and like he had brain damage. The dialogue was stiff, unbelievable and awkward. The “I’m getting way to into this kiss and I swear I’m about to rip your clothes off” bit was overdone. And then the kiss? It took about 10 whole minutes for them to even touch. It was madness. Hm. Anyways. The books were good: I’ll probably read them on and off for quite a few years. Movie was NOT good. I didn’t like it. And then…people need to stop being stupid and just say “To each their own.” Everyone has their own opinion. Does you having different one make someone else wrong? No. People, honestly. Stop being idiots. And stop being whiny little obsessive pre-teens or creepy 50-year olds trying to orgasm over a fake guy. Or even being idiots just ragging on everyone. Just stop.

Buffy The Vampire Slayer FTW. Angel and Spike are thousands of times better than Edward.

Though, I must say, I read Twilight and I liked it. I didnt like the sequils and the movie was verging on garbage. I only liked it cause of the eye candy (Not just Edward or Jacob, all of em were cute )

You’ve restored my faith in the human race…at least the teenage population. A little bit. Anyway, I myself am in the ninth grade and I would like to get my opinion across with proper grammar and spelling, no LOLspeak or texting abbreviations, and no CAPS-LOCK.

I dislike the series. Sure, it got some teenagers to read, but it also taught them not to appreciate good literature. Twilight are the only books they will read. If it’s got a plot, it’s not worth reading. *eyeroll*

“It will never be praised as great literature, but it is good pop culture.” I believe this is a bit of an understatement. All of the characters and flat and most of them are Mary-Sues/self-inserts. Bella is Meyer’s idealization of herself, and Edward is her fantasy man. There are no disadvantages to being a vampire except some angst, apparently. There’s also no plot to the book. The tiniest hint of a plot showed up near the end, but disappeared quickly. The only hint of conflict or a non-perfect character is Jacob. He is basically the only conflict to have ever come into the series [except James, who showed up too late to save the series; Victoria, who never even caused any trouble; and the Volturi, who apparently aren't even bad].

Please, I’m begging you, don’t get me started on the movie! Let’s just leave it at this, shall we?
