scarier than steven king with creative control
Excuse the ignorance, who are these girls?
They are the twins from the Shining.
Come play with us Danny…
Come play with us..
that was a creepy movie. not as creepy as my parents thought it was when they watched it at age 19 (long time ago) but still pretty creepy
forever. and ever
lol
That wasn’t a stupid caption at all…
I always thought this was the scariest scene in the movie, so I agree with this one!
Woah, that’s a big rack for a little kid.
Exactly what I was thinking!
Maybe they weren’t so young after all.
Maybe they’re part of the lullabye league?
They were 12ish when they did this movie…
I think she’s a bit lopsided too…
YIKES! I have never EVER noticed those underaged boobies. ( I’m GAY!) Please tell us why YOU did? (even if you are NOT gay……..ewwwwwww)
those aren’t boobs, thats the dress @.@
Christina Ricci’s sisters?
Mom?
Mother.
cuute =D
for now….
I’m not a snob about acting–I like Keanu Reeves, for instance, and probably shouldn’t–but I saw thirty minutes of this flick on TV and got so disgusted I changed the channel. Shelley Duvall was wrong, the plot was wrong, and Jack Nicholson was WAY THE HELL WRONG. If you haven’t read the book, you should. Then you’ll wonder why you ever liked this waste of celluloid. Kubrick shoulda stuck with sci-fi.
The mini-series is better, but only so much. I think they still miscast Jack, but at least they were more faithful to the original story.
I read the book and though the movie was perfect. Shelley Duval I could leave, but who would have been better than Nicholson?
Shelly Duval and Robert Duvall?
The movie is brilliant but should be assessed separately from the book. Kubrik clearly took liberties but he made a masterpiece.
Spielberg and War of the Worlds is different. What he made WASN’T a masterpiece but it should not be assessed along with the book. either.
this film is the only decent depiction of one of SK’s crap novels because Kubrick REJECTED KING’S SCRIPT. After that SK always demanded creative control, and all the movies/miniseries he has made have been vomit awful.
It’s good because it doesn’t follow the book.
Dude, what the hell. Stephen King is freaking fantastic.
You have poor taste in writing, my friend. King writes incredible novels.
Steven King HATED that they cast Nicholson for the part. He felt it was like a big red neon sign saying “THIS CHARACTER GOES CRAZY!” Since up till then, he’d only ever played characters that… went crazy.
I actually thought Nicholson did a good job, but I’ve always been of the opinion that if I had to be snowed into a hotel with Shelly Duvall (in her character, I have no idea what she’s like in real life) it would have taken about half the time for me to grab the ax and go after her.
Maybe it’s just me, but I liked Shelley Duval in the role… She did have that annoyingness about her, and it makes you unsurprised at why Jack wanted to take to her with an Axe..
Good point, I guess her annoying-ness makes it a realistic performance!
Haha. Same here. Yeah I thought that Jack Nicholson was really good! I mean, I totally get what Stephen King meant by saying that Nicholson wasn’t right for the part, because I was commenting on the cast and I was like “Pretty much all of them look like psychos.” It’s actually kind of funny.
But you ARE a snob about books-to-movies, as if you expected movies to stick true to books, like so many of the broken, disappointed, and hand-wringing masses who continue to wallow in the delusion. Let me guess — “Interview with the Vampire” sucked too because it strayed from the book? Well of course it did! Otherwise, we’d have a five-hour snore-fest of self-indulgence because anyone who’s read Anne Rice knows that brevity and sticking to ONE story in a book are not among her strong suits.
I’m often disappointed in movies made from books that I enjoyed, usually for subjective reasons like, “That character doesn’t look at all like I pictured [him/her/it]“. However, I will say that, IMO, “Interview with the Vampire” did NOT suck because it strayed from the book; the book and the movie sucked completely separate chipmunk balls for completely different reasons, independent of one another.
Yay! My thoughts exactly! I’m a total snob about lord of the rings for really tiny reasons. One of the biggest is that Legolas looks WAY hotter how I pictured him. ^_^;
OH man! Jack was perfect, but Shelley Duvall sucked to no end AND they ruined the ending. I still have nightmares about those creepy freaking twins, though.
The book scared the crap out of me… especially the old lady in the tub. And it was a couple of weeks before I could pass the firehose in our dorm without looking sideways at it. You know, just to check.
*shivers, chews an Excedrin*
Aw man! I just read it and I was soooo scared! I stayed up until 4 AM because I was scared of that lady. *shudders* I was like “Man that’s not right. That’s so not right.” OMG I should have video taped my expression when I was reading that part. XD
Okay, I’ve read the book and own the movie. First off, anyone who thinks Stephen King writes crap novels is sadly mistaken. I love all his books. Now, movies where he was director or had some other form of creative control, weren’t as good as they could have been. He should just stick to writing books, that’s it. Jack was cast perfectly as Jack Torrance, I don’t care what you think. As I read the book, I couldn’t think of anyone better to play that character than Jack Nicholson. Now, as for Shelley Duvall..I could’ve done without her. She made the character very annoying and obnoxious. I would’ve went after her with the axe quicker.
NOTHING is scarier than Jack Nicholson with an axe!
You should see him naked and erect!
*dies of fright*
that must be why she turned lesbian
Yummy!
If I ever went on a rampage with an axe, I would totally say “Hhheeeeres Johnny!”
seconded!
damn, i forgot how creepy this particular scene was! it’s all coming back to me now though…
No clue what movie they were in. They do look evil though and I am not sure I want to know. I won’t watch it. ACK!
Hah. I liked the movie… but they ARE pretty scary.
I still don’t know what movie it is ……… lol
The Shinning…
The Stanley Kubrick Version…
For shame. These are two of the famous ghosts from the film adaptation of “The Shining.”
Oh. I still feel the need to de-creepy-fy the whole shot. Give the two girls a makeover of sorts and rip that hideous wallpaper and do some kind of Italian plaster on the walls, hang some fabulous window treatments,……….I think that might help just a little. ……………….mmmmmmmmaybe.
My cats stand together in the hallway and stare at me like this sometimes.
And they want you to play with them, too. Forever.
Is your name Danny? :O
ha, they look like miniture Kathy Bates
i agree totally. they do
haha they sure do. Daniel must be an observational genious haha
haha shut up.
Creepy little girl ghost
