  1. CarmenT says:

How’d they come up with this makeup idea? Use poorly adhering base foundation, see how it started sweating off and say “Hey, I like it!”?

    • charro says:

Carmen dear. I do believe it was to further amplify the “I am crazy and do not take care of myself” look. Which worked out well, I think. He’d look silly if it were put on perfectly. Not crazy at all.

      • CarmenT says:

Good makeup worked well for Jack Nicholson as Teh Joker…but then he really IS crazy so maybe that works for him?

        • herb says:

Putting aside the Blasphemy! for open honesty: Jack Nicholson was playing Jack Nicholson-dressed-as-The Joker (versus his other stellar roles of Jck Nicholson-dressed-as-Jack Torrence and Jack Nicolson-dressed-as-Randal P. McMurphy).

          • keli says:

Heath actually designed the makup himself. He showed up on the set with a very basic make-up kit consisting of store bought mascara, white grease paint and lipstick and and basically designed the make-up there on the spot. Everyone loved it, so the makeup artists then had to recreate the look each day.

      • nixonagnew says:

charro, you are right. And it worked so well, that Heath Ledger made Nicholson look like a girl scout…

    • James McEnanly says:

It was supposed to look like he had applied it himself, to hide the scars.

    • AMP says:

actually it was based of the Joker comic. Good effort though.

  2. Emma says:

    Lol. Second comment!

  3. KaliBurns says:

Is it extra for the pencil-disappearing trick?

  4. PobCat says:

    Spagett!

  5. Luis says:

I think the whole point of the make up was to make him look rougher. If the paint had been well done and stuck perfectly he would look like a clown, not a psychopath.

    • Other side of the Fence says:

Now he looks like a psychopath with no fashion sense

      • charro says:

I don’t think having fashion sense is a prerequisite to be a psychopath. I’ll have to check the DSM-IV though.

        • Dallen says:

The lack of fashion sense led to one of my favorite lines in the movie though! “This suit wasn’t cheap. You should know. YOU bought it.” :)

        • Other side of the Fence says:

It is if you want to be a psychopath with class.

          • Other side of the Fence says:

Anybody could be psychopathic (or is that pathetic)thug, It take talent to be a a psychopath with class.

            • Dr. H. Quinzel says:

Of course, superfical charm is a facet of antisocial personality disorder
(sociopathic/psychopathic) listed in the DSM-IV so apparently it just comes
with the disorder? Helps with that emotionally manipulative thing
              Mr. J’s so fond of.

              • charro says:

While he is almost picture perfect ASPD, I don’t see him as being charming or superficial. The way he dresses is clearly meant to intimidate and his lack of charm is further exemplified when he grabs Rachel’s head and tells her about the scars. His clothes are very nice, you can tell there is thought put into them, and expense (clothes are cutom – no tags), but the fact that he doesn’t take care of them gives lie to any thought of superficial. That’s really the only thing I see about him that doesn’t fit the criterion, but lucky for him you don’t need to meet them all to be a sociopath!

                • charro says:

It’s almost like he wants to be superficial/charming.. but just doesn’t care enough to pull it off or put more effort into it.

                  • Dr. H. Quinzel says:

Haha, very true, Charro. The Nolanized Joker most assuredly lacks the more charming (i.e Burton’s Joker as played by Nicholson could almost have been seen as gentlemanly, at least on the surface) aspects of some of Mr. J’s incarnations.

I think if this incarnation of the Joker had been allowed to carry on in later films we might have seen a more (if not falsely so) charming version of him, given the Joker’s obvious ability to seduce and manipulate his
young and impressionable psychologist, Dr. Quinzel. Granted, she’s not exactly stable herself and is obviously delusional in regards to Mr. J’s personality, but he would have had to charm her in the beginning, I should think.

            • mandala says:

              Dexter, FTW?

      • Koki Kariya says:

I wouldn’t actually say that. He was very hobo-chic with this seasons hot colour; purple.

  6. FARMANIMALSROCK says:

    SPAGHETT!

  7. Chuck says:

Does he do Barmitsfas? If so, I may have a friend…

  8. nixonagnew says:

“I do children’s parties and special events… I also make Jack Nicholson look like a girl scout.”

  9. Kroenen says:

Hey, isn’t it supposed to be a joker card? I don’t remember seeing him pull a regular business card out of his wacky purple suit in the movie.

  10. UKSponge360 says:

I charge $20 extra for the magic pencil trick… just name a target

  11. Bugg says:

“I also took the perfect Joker to the grave.”

  12. Selkhit says:

*emotional scarring of children is free with every purchase.

  13. Mistah Kurtz says:

Why am I reminded of John Wayne Gacy?

    • charro says:

Because he was the “Killer Clown”. But he also raped little boys and buried them under his house. If the Joker is at all capable of rape I don’t see him picking little boys.

      • The_Invisible_Jester says:

I, uh, actually don’t see the Joker bothering with something so frivolous (to him) as rape. Psychopathic does not a rapist make.

  14. Alyssa says:

Dude. I would hire him for a party any day. Especially a children’s party, that would be great fun. *loses self in fantasy of joker scaring children…and all the children run away and i’m alone with him…*

  15. Freak says:

Seriously, did someone ’shop the business card to have text and not a joker pic? Why would they do that?

  16. john says:

Am I the only one that notice that “children” is written “childrens”?
    WITH AN ‘S’.

And english isn’t my mother language,

  17. Reziah says:

Lol.. I find it funny how the Dead Heath Ledger is treated as if he’s still alive, yet the Dead Michael Jackson pics are full of ‘OMG! Too Soon!’ and stuff.
