Ummm yay. Frist, first, oh and it’s shopped. Duh, can’t you see the pixels?
( But for serial: I don’t want a pop up blocker if he’s the pop up!!)

  2. Captain Weiner says:

Yay! Doctor Who! You are awesome!!!

  3. bootothat says:

Oh, thanks for the “David Tennant is leaving Doctor Who” note. I really wished you would have just left that out. I’m going to miss him, just as I missed Christopher Eccleston (and that brilliant smile of his). I just don’t think they’re going to keep it as good the third time around on the new series. Maybe I’m just going to miss Mr. Tennant. He did a very good job of following up after the 9th, who was wonderful in his own ways too.
Sorry, I’ve put much too much thought into this one.

    • Gin says:

Yeah, Tennant will always be my Doctor. I’ve seen several others now and I pretty much like them all, but Tennant is still my Doctor. I didn’t get the chance to watch Dr. Who as a kid like many of its fans, so Tennant’s Doctor was the one that got me into it. If he hadn’t been so good I don’t know if I would’ve gotten into it at all. I’m not looking forward to Matt Smith, however; he looks too much like an Edward Cullen-wannanbe, except that (even worse) in the pics of him he’s clad all in black like some emo fan of show rather than seeming anything like an incarnation of the Doctor. Tennant quit at the end of October, and this was the best they could do by the first of the year?! I think not.

      • HvsL says:

UGH to Matt Smith. Seriously, I thought the shiny emo vampires were going to stay in twilight.
I thought TENNANT was too young for the Doctor! Don’t get me wrong, he won me over and it didn’t take long. But I just Don’t think I can respect a Doctor who’s no older than I am. UGH.

        • Fantomas says:

‘My Doctor’ was Patrick Troughton… I’ve been with my wife since David Tennant was 13. I tend to take an actor on his merits, not his age. Just because I have socks older than someone doesn’t mean one can’t enjoy the performance.

I’d say, sit back and enjoy the ride… if it’s crap, then there are still the first 4 series of the Post Time War Doctor, the Xmas specials, and the 09 specials to enjoy, rather like one can enjoy ST:OST etc… Matt Smith aquitted himself well on numerous TV progs (He is wonderfully Machiavellian in ‘Party Animal’ – think a young Francis Urquhart in some respects) and has pretty solid theatre reviews, even in crappy productions.

As James Nesbitt (who worked with Stephen Moffat on “Jekyll”) pointed out, for a well known actor to risk Who after Tennant was so high risk as to be professional suicide…

        • bobfish says:

          i lol’d at the Twilight-ness

          DAMN THAT EMO FRINGE

        • mooocowlegxdavid says:

but matt smith and his emo fringe are sexy (his lack of eyebrows is a turn-off though XD)

      • bootothat says:

Gin- I’ve seen pretty much all of them too. I’ve tried to find all of the older ones but some of them are hard to find (apparently having something to do with BBC and the old records being ruined…but I don’t know the details)(surfthechannel.com had most of them for a while until they were taken off). I must say I don’t know if anyone can match the smiles of the last two, they were intoxicating.
I agree with the emo thing, I’m not liking the feel of it either…but I guess we’ll just have to wait and see. *shrug*

        • Moonbeam says:

The first Doctor I ever saw was Number Four: Tom Baker. I’m a young’un, I saw one of my parents’ taped videos after the series was cancelled. The Brain of Morbius, as I recall. Ever since then, I’d adored it. I saw the newer series first last year, thanks to my Drama teacher who loves the show, and I watched the rest at home. I love David, he’s positively brilliant. But as he said, it’s a great opportunity for anyone the play The Doctor, and it’s his turn to pass on the torch, as it were.

  4. Kieran says:

    DAVID TENNANT RULES!!

  5. risa says:

i love david tennant! if he came in the door right now, and asked me to leave my fiance, i would! lol

  6. Cwhut says:

    Doctor Who pwn.

  7. Micalanious says:

David Tennant is awesome, but it’s always exciting waiting for the next regeneration of the Doctor.

  8. Rachel says:

Oh this made my day! David Tennant you will be missed. But can the fandom stop with the wank ’til 2010? Plzkthnx.

  9. shmee says:

I thought I knew the most annoying fandom but I was wrong… Doctor who fans are pretty annoying as well. Honestly judging someone who you haven’t seen play the part? At least see how it is? I’m neutral on Matt Smith till I see the first episode of the new season. Then I will make judgments.

I honestly don’t feel sad nor happy nor anything about David Tennant leaving. He was fun and I enjoyed him but I like watching the doctor change. It adds something to the series.

    • galisparrow says:

Hey, we are no where near as annoying as Twilight fans, l(et me assume that was who you were referring too)
And don’t judge us all, we dont all complain, some of us are just attached to our doccy-woc.

      • Kim says:

I can’t agree more!! I know some twilight fans, and they are FAR FAR worse than I am…. but I tolerate them (mostly becuse they tolerate me… lol!). ;)

    • bobfish says:

Same! It’s immature beyond belief. But he should lose that fringe…

David Tennant is David Tennant is David Tennant. If people only watch the show for him, maybe they oughta just stock up on DVDs of other stuff he’s been in, instead of making the Who fandom look like a teeny-bopper drool-fest :(
Eccleston is MY Doctor, but Tom Baker is my second fave of them all

      I hate Twilight.

      • Isengrim says:

The doctor that got me into it was the guy with the long scarf (don’t know his name, there’s that lack of reading credits again.) I only managed to get into
the current run because my ol’ man is gone, and he can’t stand anything sci-fi, so I never get to watch anything I like (just endless hours of forensics and
crime crap, boring.) Gotta find where I can get/see the entire run the current series.

        • Shades says:

I do believe that it is Sylvester McCoy to which you are referring (and I’m not even a Doctor Who fan!!)

          • Shades says:

…Although, giving it a little more thought, it could be Tom Baker I suppose. Though both did wear scarves. Tom wore a more traditional (albeit long) woollen knitted scarf and Sylvester wore a silk(?) scarf.

    • randomrandom says:

So are you claiming yourself to be annoying as well?

I’ll give Matt Smith a chance, but I still really like David.

  10. Snoodle says:

Omg I remember that episode…clever caption. Well played :p

  11. Frank says:

    MOTIVATORS

    Enough of ‘em, already!

  12. Belle says:

    Best pop-up ever ;D <3

    I’m going to miss David Tennant D;

    <3 <3 <3

  13. cairis says:

David Tennant is My Doctor as well.. I was not happy when the announcement came out that he was leaving the show, but I am interested in seeing how this kid.. (serious, he’s younger than ME!) will handle the part..
And I agree with a couple of the comments here.. if HE’s the pop-up, then I’m gonna disable my blocker!!

I think this just became my favorite LOL, and my new desktop…

  14. //o-o\\ says:

Maybe it’s just me but I find David Tennant as the Doctor much more attractive than David Tennant as David Tennant. lol.

Even though I’m a newbie to the fandom, I hate that he’s leaving but thanks to PBS, I’m only on season two while the rest of the world is on whatever season it is in real life, so I’m good until they stop playing it. haha. =)

Oh and I’m glad I’m not the only one who thinks this Matt Smith kid is a vampire/RPattz-wannabe. I was worried my friends’ fangirling had got to me.

    • Gin says:

Hmmm, I’m the opposite. Having seen Tennant do an interview, I think he’s hotter as himself than as the Doctor. And I know, I know, I should wait to see Matt Smith in action before passing judgment, but the fact remains that he does look like an emo edition of Edward Cullen — the hair, all dressed in black, etc. Unless you’re a girl in middle school Smith’s appearance does not bode well for Doctor Who.

  15. Zizzy says:

    He’s so hott!

  16. kati says:

this was the perfect ending to a loooong day. gave me a little smile. the doctor has a tendancy to do that, be it tennant, eccelson, or any of the older generations…. there’s just something about the doctor that make you feel everything is going to be all right, no matter how it looks, it’ll be alright.
i loved this doctor, and i’m going to miss him dearly, but i missed eccelson’s dr too, so much so i didnt watch the dr for a whole year!!! i didnt thing tennant would have what it takes when i first saw him. now i know i was oh so very wrong, so i’m holding out judgement on smith til i see him in action. bbc has done well for the last several decades of drs, so one can only hope they keep the greatness going.
    viva la tardis!

  17. CCC says:

What a wonderful birthday present for someone who has the Doctor Who theme music as a ringtone on their cel phone – that would be me!!

  18. Cottleston Pie says:

My Doctor is Jon Pertwee. (Does that date me a little?)

    • Izzy says:

Who cares if it does! Pertwee was awesome!

Considering the tacky props and cheesy effects, its a testament to his acting skills that he could come off as serious. Loved his outfits as well! Some say he was the Jimi Hendrix of Dr. Who’s. :P

I hope ill be able to watch a new DW without David; he just has so much style and hes so much fun to watch.

      • California Dave says:

Like Tennant, Peter Davison was my Doctor. I loved the two of them in that special they did.

But I agree – I’ll withhold judgment until we see how Smith does.

        • Motas says:

Pertwee was wonderful! Being stuck in UNIT HQ & rushing around in Bessie was (and is) a refreshing change. Loved Davidson. Have a scarf. Didn’t feel comfortable with curl-boy. Enjoyed the last Doc of run #1, poor guy. Not real familiar with Hartnell & Troughton.
The low budget effects in round one were a big part of it’s charm. It was fun to fantasize about whether or not the Doc & his companion du jour were, you know, friendly. The current version may have awesome effects, but I’d like to use my imagination a bit more…
Eccleston was marvelous. Tennant…about that fantasize bit…
Let’s give this Smith kid a chance. He has huge shoes to fill and is well aware of the legacy now resting on his shoulders. In an interview on (I think) the BBC site he mentions how his dad grew up watching the show. He seems to have a good grasp of what he’s getting into, unlike Tennant who initially insisted he’d stick around for many years. If Smith can withstand the scrutiny and “I-hate-change” scathings of us old fans and teen-screams of the young ones he may be able to carry the series well into his 30’s.
          Jelly Baby, anyone?

          • CottlestonPie says:

The crap special effects was one of the things I loved about the first run. I also liked the last doctor and thought it was a shame he had such rotten storylines. If you could call them storylines. Most of them seemed like pointless, drug-induced hallucinations…

            • Moonbeam says:

You could see the TARDIS strings!

            • PersistentlyQuiet says:

Are you sure? Colin Baker would suggest that you just agreed to play along with them in exchange for everything else.
If the special effects of Doctor Who today were so ropy would you still be watching, or would they just get totally on your wick?

      • PersistentlyQuiet says:

Another bit of trivia from C. Baker (have to distinguish him from T.). When he started as the Sixth Doctor, he was shown to a mock-up TARDIS console that was used for rehearsals. He was looking at it and noticed that most of the controls had wee hand-written notes pencilled in on the plywood beside them.

They were Jon Pertwee’s notes. Whenever he decided what a control should do he’d make a note on the rehearsal console. Then, whenever he had to do that thing later, he’d use the same control. He figured people would notice if turning on the outside scanner involved a different control from one week to the next.

Jon Pertwee wrote the book on TARDIS piloting.

  19. Tempestates says:

That’s one Doctor I wouldn’t mind getting through the pop=up blockers

  20. neffie says:

What site do I have to go on for him to pop up??

Tennant will always be my Doctor. :)

  21. ppg says:

I would never block David Tennent. He can pop up at my place anytime. :D

  22. vandalfan north idaho says:

It’s Tom Baker for me. Scarf- WANT!

This Matt Smith looks good, but the link is awful: “mostly unknown small role actor”? No such thing as small roles, only small actors.

  23. little gator says:

My one 1 Doctor: Tom Baker
    2: David Tennant

    • Hopless Romance says:

Agreed. Tom had an awesome voice and David is just plain sexy. He can pop-up on my computer anytime!

  24. Adele says:

    Ooh…love!

Maybe there’s a check box on my pop-up blocker: let the Doctor in?

Anyway, I love all the Doctors I’ve seen-One through Five, Seven through Ten…wow, I feel rather exclusionary now. I think I’ll go buy a Colin Baker serial…

  25. kikka says:

David is the sexiest guy in the universeż
he is my one and only doctor
i bet Matt guy wont evev last a whole series!
    i mean WTF?!
‘we want a 40 year old. David was an excepiton’ my @$$
the next one will be 17 im sure of it! and i will be 17 as well. i wonder how that would feel

  26. Kim says:

u wouldn’t BELIEVE how excited I was to see this!!!! David and Tom r my doctors cuz David is hot and funny and has great hair, and tom is just plain ol’ greatness!

  27. Tara says:

That man can pop up for me anytime. mmmmmm

  28. Amber says:

Okay in my perfect lovely little world David Tennant is never leaving and Rose never left and Donna never had her memory erased. Yeah I rarely visit reality and only then to get supplies really…like bananas!!!! but not pears!!!(And if you are a fan you know what I’m talking about)

  29. LadyGunn says:

Okay, this is the most awesome thing I have ever seen on this site. Better make that anywhere on the web in the past few months! Love Tennant! He is now the desktop on both my computers… *insert HUGE cheesy grin here*

  30. Sukhoiflanker says:

Holy shit that face creeps me out.

  31. NovelIdea says:

I didn’t like Tennant at first, but her really grew on me. But when they said they would announce the next Doctor, I was really hoping they’d give us someone other than another white male. I think that would stir thing up a bit.

  32. NovelIdea says:

Um… I mean “he really grew on me.” Going to get some coffee now…

  33. MonkeyMaadness says:

I LOOOVE DAVID TENNANT how dare he leave doctor who :( *sob*

  34. Tekrae says:

Good old David Tenant. I loved his role in Doctor Who. Shame he’s leaving.
This picture wouldn’t be half as funny if it weren’t for his face.

  35. Ysobelle says:

Just saw him live in the closing night of “Hamlet,” and I’d have to agree: that man can pop up, pop over, pop off, pop tart, pop a wheelie any damned time he likes. He just comes across as such a genuinely nice guy. Someone you’d make sure to invite to all your parties and could trust never to throw up on your dog.

  36. > hypr says:

    o m g !

    lmao.

  37. Shannon says:

    I LOVE HIM :D

  38. Snowphish says:

    Aw… I heart this photo. :)

I am also sad that Tennant is leaving and agree that Matt looks like an Edward Cullen wannabe… but let’s give him a chance…

    • hrm... says:

lets not!!! cmon, be unreasonable then be swept away in suprise. u never kno.
still, the photo of the new doctor makes him look emo.

  39. bobfish says:

    *Dies from Tennant fangirls*

  40. Lena says:

Gah. I can’t believe he’s leaving Dr. Who. He is my favorite T.T
He looks like Matthew Bellamy too haha.

  41. mooocowlegxdavid says:

    LUV U DAVID!!

  42. Isaac says:

Is it just me or does he really look like Henry Ian Cusick (Desmond) from Lost in this pic?

  43. drwhofan56 says:

david was so funny and i will miss him *sob*

  44. drwhovian says:

Hey, thanks for e-mailing me this! *(your fellow Whovian co-worker). ;)

  45. Becky says:

I remember this episode. Isn’t it when he was in the office building and was reunited with Donna after the adventure with the wedding and the spider queen. And they just miss each other the whole episode until they see other while eves dropping. Ah good times, good times.

    • Abby says:

no this is in the Adipose episode, the fat fighting pill. Both he and Donna are investigating the little ‘baby’ adiposes that come from the fat people and walk away down the street.
      It was a brilliant ep.

  46. Anathema says:

Aaaaand where can I go to find this pop-up?

  47. Ami says:

I was incredibly traumatized when Eccelston left, but Tennant won me over with his smile. And his hair. And his Scottish accent and amazing ability to pull off a trenchcoat and I could go on but I’ll stop now…

I’ll give Matt Smith a chance, but I have a really bad feeling about it. I’m probably going to cry…

    • randomrandom says:

What won me over was his HAIR. And the fact that he was Scottish. I used to think that Scotts just couldn’t no matter how hard they tried pull off a different accent but now I know different.

The main reason I don’t think I’ll like Matt is because he seems a little dark. What I liked about DT was that in the TV show he always seemed high and jumpy but could always pull a serious face on us. I just think that Matt will always have that “I lost Rose boo hoo hoo/I’m that last timelord everybody’s talking about boo hoo hoo” face. And Doctor Who isn’t really a dark show. While it seems that with the new companion and the new Doc they’re going to make it like some sort of R-rated horror TV show like True Blood.

(Sorry about the long post, I just had a thinking moment there.)

  48. Heather says:

Ahh, I’m going to miss him. Peter Davison was always my Doctor, but David is probably the best Doctor ;D
I’m a bit worried about Matt Smith, in all honesty. Meh. He’ll grow on me, I’m sure.

  49. Nerdygal says:

OMG David Tennant!!!!! I LOVE DOCTOR WHO!!!

  50. timmy says:

Ah, David Tennant. I like him. He’s a decent Doctor. *My* Doctor would have to be the Seventh… but Tennant is pretty good.

  51. Kitty says:

why can’t they just put nine… ten… and eleven into a big orgy and just let us watch.

    erm..

the doctor’s getting close to the end of his regenerations, is he not? this would be his tenth or eleventh, whenther or not you count that little mishap with his hand in season 3/4

  52. fug says:

oh, that’s just so happy :D

  53. satine188 says:

Tennant is cool doctor, sad that he’s leaving :’(

  54. Hito says:

~ This made me laugh, for some unknown reason.

    Probably Tennant’s sexy AWESOME.
