And a good neighbor at that.
I bet he always had a cup of sugar, imported from Venice hand made by Italian nobles.
and Speedy Delivery would bring a film so Picture Picture could show us the process…
Before ANYONE can bring it up.
NO, Mr Rogers was NOT in Vietnam
He was NOT an elite sniper
There are NO tattoos on his forearms
all urban myths.
Neighbor
Would be cool if it was true though…
I heard the character of Jack Bauer was based on Rogers’ experiences with the CIA. But the story that he cut off a Bulgarian agent’s head is apocryphal. The head came off in an accident when Rogers captured the guy.
Ha! The head just came right off!
you mean, Mr. Rogers wasn’t Alice Cooper’s daddy?

God bless Fred Rogers. A more peaceful, positive man is hard to find.
The world needs more neighbors like Mr. Rogers.
Yeah. Mr. Roger is (yes, he still is) awesome.
I’m begging people don’t bring that ICHC cutsie BS spelling to this site. PLEASE!!! for the sake of my sanity.
ICHC cutsie Basic Script Spelling? Hmm…
LOLSpeak = an excuse to throw grammar out the window.
Or in the case of ICHC, to hide the fact that you never made it past the third
grade.
Understand that ICHC is a sister site to roflrazzi and you’re gonna get the crazies every now and then.
Preschool spelling fits. Mr Rogers always used correct grammar and spelling himself, but he’d like yours just the way it was.
Wishing that Mr. Rogers had been my dad. What a great guy.
Indeed.
Epic Neighbor. Though I didnt grow up with that tv-show, it is one of the greatest things known to me.
That it was and I plan to check for DVDs of his show for my sons. Gotta balance out the crazy stuff I watch somehow.
My teacher has a thing on his desk and when you push it it says “Oh, won’tcha be…*my neighbor*?”
No, Mr. Rogers pronced everything correctly. It was a learning show, so you don’t want to end up with parents & teachers sueing(sp?) you for teaching the kids to say “won’cha”
OOPS!! I meant he pronounced everything right. Sorry, y’all!
EPIC WIN! I miss that show
Mr. Rogers is a freak.. I use to like that be he was a strange dude. http://www.youcanquotethis.com
I find it sad that people can’t believe there is a good, kind-hearted person out there.
.
There was as an interview with him some years back, and they wanted to see how long it took for somebody to say “Thank you” to him as soon as he left his door. 13 seconds.
I liked Mr. Rogers, because He liked me just the way I was.
As someone who grew up with this show and many other children’s educational programs that simply aren’t matched by anything on television today (Reading Rainbow, Mr. Wizard, and 3-2-1 Contact to name a few) let me just say God bless Fred Rogers, and I am still honored to be his neighbor. Never has there been a better show for children of all ages than his.
3 2 1 Contact was bad ass
That reminds me… In the episode of Star Trek: TNG “The Naked Now”, Levar Burton’s charecter, Geordi LaForge, Says he wishes he could see a rainbow like everyone else. Paraphrased, I don’t recall exactly what he said. I was… Kinda distracted.
As someone who was an adult when he went on the air I found him heartwarming if a bit simplistic. but then, his audience wasn’t 30-year-olds. Eddie Murphy’s satire of him on Sat. Night Live only helped accentuate the desperate need for civility in this society. And that was how many years ago? The world at large would be a better place to take a page from Mr. Rogers’ book.
R.I.P> Mr. Rogers when they made you the broke the mold
Waking up to hearing that he died was the worst birthday present I ever got
I still have two of his record albums. They’re scratchy and beat up, but they still play. Gotta rip those to mp3s for my kids.
I luff Mr. Rogers. When I found out he passed away, I cried. R.I.P. Mr Rogers, I’m glad to have been your neighbor <3
nono, HONORED is more like it ^^
It’s amazing how a minister in a red cardigan can make after-school specials cool. His messages embraced simplicity and gave kids in the worst situations hope in the time when it was still OK to be Christian on TV. God Bless you, Mr. Rogers. Rest in Peace.
