Gah it’s so true!! Johnny Depp is great, though :]
Okay, I think Monday robbed me of my LOLs. What’s so funny? I would love Depp more if he was a non-smoker. He is pretty to look at though.
WTF?! You’d like him better if he was a non-smoker??? Why? It’s not like you’re EVER going to kiss him! LOL!
Not-so-funny Monday indeed…
Johnny, a suggestion. It might be a strain, but I think that challenge would be good for you.
Try taking the role of a NORMAL PERSON, just once.
He did, in many movies.
But that’s not what we luv him for.
Yay for freaks and weirdoes!
Yay indeed. i don’t agree with your name though
What is normal, anyway? Your definition of normal might be strange or freaky to someone else. Johnny is unique, quirky and damn sexy, and we love him just as he is.
Jack Davenport FTW.
Bah, normal is so dull. Thats why I propeller beanie the fish banana.
And you define normal how? I rather like the roles he’s had
I want some
Of which, LSD or him?
…both…?
all three?! there are candy canes in the background!
I love how people who have never done LSD make assumptions about what you see on LSD.
What have YOU seen?
The thing is, people (who haven’t done LSD) assume that you see all sorts of crazy cartoon fantasia visuals, or that things turn from one thing into another. In reality, 90% of an LSD trip is delusional and distorted, not hallucination. You become fascinated with the texture of the carpet… you talk to someone who’s not there (without necessarily seeing them). You think you’re something you’re not.
Fall asleep on LSD and *maybe* you’ll get vivid visions like that. You’re more likely to see the walls breathing and everything around you moving than any real hallucination. In effect, LSD is mostly internal.
It’s been a decade since I did any LSD, but it bugs me when people who have obviously never done it portray it for more than it is. Then again, to an outsider a real acid trip would be boring as opposed to all the fancy visuals they pawn off as real.
QQ
Dude…you talk about it like it’s a good thing.
And YOU talk about it like it’s a BAD thing. I’m sure you’ve never tried it.
I’ve never had chocolate cake, I’m sure it tastes like horse farts.
Actually, when one is on extacy (which is a completely different chemical make up than LSD) they become facsinated with touching things like carpet, colors are more pronounced, etc. I have never heard of nor have I ever personally expierenced on LSD seeing “fantasia visuals” as you call them. I have heard of that happening on mushrooms. I have also heard that people talk to things that aren’t there on mushrooms as well.
LSD is a drug that manipulates the optical nerves. It causes you to see things that might not be actually there, for instance, in a tree you might see a face in the bark because of the actual pattern of the bark itself. Patterns and lines move. People do see colors that aren’t really there, example auras. My personal aura is blue. You might expierence, and this is why they tell you to NOT look in a mirror on LSD, your face or the faces of other melting.
I do believe, sir or ma’am, that you have your drugs mixed up. Maybe LSD has changed since your day.
He said fascinated with the texture of the carpet, as in the way it looks. at least thats the way I read it, and to me, that sounds totally accurate.
I’ve looked in mirrors and at other peoples faces several times on LSD, they dont melt. They WARP a little bit, but if you twitch your eye or move your head it pretty much goes back to normal.
By the way, LSD does way more to your brain than manipulate the optical nerves.
In any case, Jon’s description sounds fine to me.
“Manipulates the optical nerves”? Can you please cite a reference for that? LSD works on serotonin, just like ecstasy does.
Somewhat correct… It does work with serotonin but definitely not in the same manner as MDMA. MDMA basically causes your brain to fart out its serotonin stockpile, making plenty of it available to bind to receptors.
It’s not exactly known how LSD works – it may inhibit neurotransmission or excite it; it may even bind to neurotransmitter receptors themselves.
Whatever it does, by golly its fantastic.
On a side note – LSD is a Tryptamine; MDMA is a Phenethylamine, two very different types of chemical.

No no no. That’s not what I meant. What I meant was “both drugs work on serotonin and neither one manipulates the optical nerve”.
LSD also works on dopamine.
Um…if you “fall asleep on LSD” you’ve taken something besides LSD.
I appreciate your advocacy for LSD, however visions are a very real part of the LSD experience. Rarely are these visions manifest as total landscapes and at low doses. More often things sparkle, sway and strobe. With higher doses distortions often morph into fantastic entities based on your individual psyche. The distortion are dynamic and often loosely defined visually. The real world is filtered through decreased capability to effectively process neurological input. The gaps in the input are filled in by the mind. At very large doses all sensory input is blocked and the mind creates the input much as in a dream. Interfering with sensory input by laying down, minimizing light or closing your eyes, being quiet and adjusting the ambient temperature will also amplify the experience. An alternative tactic is to overstimulate the senses during the experience. The rush of extreme sensory input that cannot be processed effectively causes the brain to overlook input and create input of it’s own (hallucinations). It is a shame that LSD is nearly impossible to obtain. Hopefully the future will hold an opportunity for individuals to responsibly explore their inner space without the oversensationalized hype and negativity that has accompanied this misunderstood gift.
I once took LSD and watched Charlie & The Chocolate Factory, so this isn’t entirely inaccurate.
I second that!
Lol, if you watched the movie you’re going to see that stuff whether or not you’re on LSD… It’s on your TV!
yeah, i would think, that this would be more of a straight up opium experience?
I think Johnny has been to the hotel that the peeps on Failblog were on about. It has free LSD, according to it’s sign, heh.
Ah, yes. Lovely place! XD
My husband says “Cocaine’s a hell of a drug!” when he disagrees with something someone says. So the quote from this lol is quite amusing to me.
Lets here it for Dave Chappelle!
L.O.L. on the Chapelle show reference to Rick James.
But…as far as the above quote and picture are concerned, right phrase, wrong movie. Come on, anybody else?
I see what you did there.
good for you
good to knw
Johnny Depp :p
