Firsssssttttt
u dony say teh f wurd heer on lols….and i luv that moovie so much i crapped my self wen i saw that familiar a.0 face or b.0 hair ….both r VARRY reconizubl
Uhh, What? I’m not kidding here, what did you say? I really don’t understand…
Allow me to translate.
You do not say the word “first” on this internet site, or indeed on any “LOL” site… and I love this motion picture so much I deficated in my underwear when I saw the picture; both actors are very recognisable.
*hugs for p4t* You made me lol.
hahahahahhaha
Rather, they were commenting on the scowl of Johnny D’s face and his hair style in this movie both being recognizable. Not both actors. I doubt that they even noticed that Helena Carter was in this photo. XD
Omar Nasiri (b.1960s) is the pseudonym of a Moroccan spy who infiltrated al-Qaeda, attending training camps in Afghanistan and passing information to the UK and French intelligence services. He claims in an exclusive interview presented on the BBC’s Newsnight programme on November 16, 2006 that the UK intelligence services were warned in the mid-1990s about the threat posed by al-Qaeda, but failed to act quickly enough. He also claims that Ibn al-Shaykh al-Libi deliberately gave interrogators acting on behalf of the United States false information in order to encourage the USA to overthrow Saddam Hussein, thus allowing al-Qaeda to use Iraq as a jihadist base.
In his book, he claims to be deaf in his left ear due to an accident when he was younger, when he was using a cuetip to clean his ears when his brothers, who were roughhousing on a bed next to him, fell on him and drove the cuetip deep into his left ear. While this is heavily considered to be true, because his book mentions how “minor details have been edited or fabricated for protection of the author”, it is unclear if he is deaf in his left ear instead of his right, or if this ever really happened.
I liked that movie…
Sweeney Todd is on the Dark Side?!?
Except the music wasn’t catchy…
I was kind of underwhelmed too, particularly since I usually like both the leads.
I guess darkly comedic Sondheim musicals where the protagonist isn’t the hero aren’t everybody’s cup of tea.
I can’t recommend Ravenous to you, either, if you didn’t dig Sweeney Todd.
Ohhh, Ravenous is wonderful and hilarious. <3 Guy Pearce!
ITA. I loved Ravenous. And have seen three different stage productions of Sweeney Todd, including the original cast, with Angela Lansbury as Mrs. Lovett.
What is this Ravenous you speak of?
I love Sweeney Todd. Never seen the play, though. I drew a picture. Does that count for anything?
That depends what the picture was of…..
*snort* Nothing inappropriate, I assure you.
If you get the opportunity to see Sweeney Todd, I’d suggest skipping it if it’s the revival version. They went a bit too “artsy” on it and it turns out looking lazy. Extremely minimal set, everyone wears almost the same black and white shirt and tie, actors playing their instruments on the edges of the stage, blood poured into buckets as a white lab coat is put on the victim, etc. Don’t get me wrong, I love the story, the music and the revival cast, but it’s just a pain in the neck to watch. Heh heh.
Yeah, I’m not much of a Broadway person and I’ve only seen the movie. I’m a big fan of it, though.
Well, my friend was going last week and I was a bit annoyed that she went without me. But now I guess I probably shouldn’t be!
The original version was staged better in my opinion. They had a set that was two stories and could be moved around and was really cool. They wore somewhat-period costumes, too. If you really want a treat, look up the 2005 concert version on Youtube. I think it has the best cast (acting and singing) and the costumes are very nice, though there isn’t any set. You get what’s going on. You get to hear all the songs in their entirety, too. In the movie they cut short/out several songs that frankly work much better on stage than they would have in a movie adaptation. You have to hear A Little Priest the whole way through, it’s a hoot!
Ahh! *wants*
*snort* When I read this, guess who’s voice was saying it.
Enlighten me
Anything with Alan Rickman. I’d pay to watch him read the phone book.
Eh. I heard Toby saying this. But Alan Rickman is the voice of GOD!
Yup I agree. Please let me go to heaven if ‘God’ looks so sexy!!
“*gasp* The Voice!”
“…The Apostle.”
hehe Go Metatron.
After I read your comment I started reading it (and all these comments) in Morgan Freeman’s voice….
very true. music makes all the difference
I like to apply that philosophy when I fantasize about what HSM might have been if it was about murder…
zat is true
so cool and cold face.
You got that right!!! xD
The reason the movie was tepid was due to the actor’s inability to sing. Which is too bad because they are both fantastic actors.
And really, isn’t Sweeney Todd more about cannabalism than murder?
You seriously think Johnny has knives for hands, is a drug dealer, has infiltrated a mafia gang, been a pirate, and owned a chocolate factory? Apropos of the last of those, I’m going to say that he can sing, at least well enough to keep me happy, and I’m very critical of bad performances.
meow
Does she even play any other character anymore? She seems to have walked off the Harry Potter set right into Sweeny Todd..
The pre-Raphaelite looks of Helena Bonham-Carter are a film critic meme.
one of my favorite musicals, and it has nothing to do with the murder thing. i think it was cool because it´s freaking Sondheim!!! no one knows good music like sondheim
Sometimes caps lock is not cruise control for cool. This is one of those times.
