Errr…. He’s a Psychologist. I believe he’s plenty qualified for that. From Wikipedia – “McGraw graduated in 1975 from Midwestern State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology. He went on to earn a master’s degree in experimental psychology in 1976, and a Ph.D in clinical psychology in 1979 at the University of North Texas,[6] where his dissertation was titled “Rheumatoid Arthritis: A Psychological Intervention.” After run-ins with several faculty members,[7] McGraw was guided through the doctoral program by Frank Lawlis, Ph.D., who later became the primary contributing psychologist for the Dr. Phil television show.”
He is not qualified to practice in California. You have to get your licence to practice. I am a psychology major, and will soon have a BA from the best psych program in Canada. Even with my BA, I wouldn’t trust myself near any actual patients until I have a proper licence. “He maintained his license current and in good standing until he elected to retire it 15 years later in 2006.” AKA he does not have a licence anymore. Not to mention his questionable practices on and off air.
Dr. Phil is a dumbass.
Grover is guaranteed to make anyone feel better (except the guy in the restaurant where Grover waits tables–guess his medical career doesn’t keep him busy enough), while Dr. Phil just makes you feel dirty.
