Actually, they used to have another female on the team, Scottie, but she left a while ago
I prefer Scottie. Kari tries to hard and is annoying. plus she’s always shiny, which makes her seem sticky.
:/ I miss Scottie, too. She left for “personal reasons” but if you would watch the two closely I think it was obvious that the bitch drove Scottie nuts. Kari is a selfish brat who literally bullied her way onto the show because she wanted to be famous.

This myth and my nuts have one thing in common now.
Yes it was for a Maxim layout, so yes it’s very photoshopped – as in every beauty shot in a men’s mag.
There are occasionally one or two other gals on Mythbusters, but Kari is part of the main crew, besides Adam and Jamie, along with Tory and Grant.
She’s hot on the show too, without the photoshopping.
And at one point while I was watching a series of reruns, she seemed to have something that kept her from doing real work in every one of them. Pregnancy, broken leg… Some reason she stayed home sick in the personal flying machine episode…
That was an odd set of recordings I watched xD.
She was pregnant. They made reference to it once or twice, but never really made a big deal out of it.
I always felt bad for her in this picture. She’s certainly photogenic, but there’s something sort of embarrassing about taking someone from a pop science show and sticking her in risque labwear.

Adore MB, adore Kari, yes she is teh hawtness, BUT…
This pic kinda makes me sad… She’s just about the only female scientist on television and now she’s doing total fanservice.
Ah well. That’s the interwebs for ya. *shrug*
I feel the same way. I always looked at her as a cool lady scientist until this and the pregnancy hiding. I’m sure she’s smart and very qualified to be on the show with the guys, but… she’s not the role model that she used to be to me anymore.
Actually she isn’t a “scientist” lady. Her degree is in models, as in artistic type.

If you’re talking about the show, then I agree.
The simple fact is that every woman likes to feel attractive. Having 9000 nerds and prison inmates lusting after you will do that, no question. That she’s also a brainy, capable member of a movie special effects house is just a big plus. Also, lets not forget the buttload of cash she got for the shoot, something someone with a young family can Always use…

Myth #160: She provides valuable intellectual input on the show and is NOT coached on everything she says on camera to sound more intelligent and is NOT just a dumb piece of eye candy used to help boost ratings through sex cheapening the show.

Actually she did building on the show for a while before they realized she looked pretty good onscreen as well and started giving her camera time.

I have a feeling that Jamie Hyneman wouldn’t have put up with her for a New York nanosecond if she hadn’t been willing to work hard and well.

Well, I can’t answer for her pregnancy leave-replacement (g), but Kari is what the folks over at TVTropes call an Ascended Fan. She was an early fan of the show that bugged Jaimie to hire her as an “I’ll go anywhere, I’ll do anything” utility person. On that basis, if she hadn’t shown that she was going to get down to business and not fool around, Hyneman would have ashcanned her so fast her head would still be revolving now.
