No one has ever died from smoking marijuana. Millions have died from drinking alcohol. You can buy a fatal amount of alcohol at a grocery store but be thrown in jail for a half-gram of marijuana. Anyone else out there see the idiocy of this situation?

Agreed. Same with tobacco. I’m not saying that pot should necessarily be legal, my point is that if it’s illegal, tobacco should be too.
Pot isn’t even addictive. Just because it feels good, and you want to have it again, that’s not an addiction. Like an orgasm. Just because it feels good, and you want to have another one, doesn’t mean you’re addicted.
That is the very basis of addiction. Seems someone is in denial.
Pot is scientifically proven to be addictive. It is not completely harmless as people make it out to be. Sure, less cancer than cigarettes, but still not good for you in the least.
The reason why pot is illegal is because it’s easier and cheaper to put a seed in a pot than buy and handle a makeshift distiller in your basement. It’s all profits with the system, man.
Actually pot is illegal because of racism in the 20s & 30s, and because DuPont and Hearst stood to lose a lot of money due to hemp’s uses in the petrochemical, textile, and paper industries so Hearst used his newspapers to launch a smear campaign.
Guillermo_04 and rshudson82, I think you’re both right. … And, my guess is, that it will probably continue to remain illegal, because we are not really people, we are really just livestock. In other words, “corporate property”. No chains necessary, debt works better, less investment for owners, far more profitable, and easier to maintain than shackles.
