And the series was meant for middle-school-aged kids, too. I remember the episode where they discussed AIDS, and interviewed some kids who’d gotten it from their moms at birth. They neither glossed over the issue, or included every disgusting, explicit detail. It was tastefully done, IMO.
Let’s see today’s teetering-between-Disney-and -porno television culture try to pull THAT off.

I saw Bill Nye not too long ago. He was giving a lecture at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke. I had a wonderful time.

Bill Nye has a BSc in mech. eng. Hmm… He’s exactly as qualified as any of the 300 guys I work with was when they started in the industry.
Except for the ones with advanced degrees.
He really dresses like that, too. I ran into him during a conference at NASA and he looks and dresses exactly like he did on TV!

Bill Nye was a eye-opener for a 10 year old girl getting bored with school. Science can be fun? By the end of the show I vowed to buy myself a bow tie to celebrate when I had earned my first doctorate in biology.
